Commenting should work again
by , May 6, 2007 at 6:29 am
Multiple users have reported that they are unable to post comments to Expressionflow. The problem has been tracked down to have been caused by rich text comment editor that was used on this site. The rich text comments have now been disabled and there should be no more problems posting comments. Should you have any problems, please inform me. My email address can be found at the bottom of the page in the copyright notice. (Post has been edited!)

Well I just tried to comment on another thread but it did not show up yet. Is their a delay or approval process?

I spend a few hours debugging my blog software code. I finally found what was going on. The rich text commenting plugin I had was not interoperable with the blog software. I turned it off. I hope the comments are finally working properly. Rolf, your comment is now visible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Tomi,
Thanks for informing me about this issue. I tried posting a comment on my blog anonymously, and it too was blocked.
Are you using Akismet as your spam filtering software? You can train Akismet not to mark comments as spam simply because they contain HTML characters… I marked your other second comment as “not spam”, and then I tried posting on my own blog anonymously… it went into the moderation queue as it should, rather than the spam filter.
Again, sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused!

Sauhard, I’m not using Akismet as it took too long to teach it and my current math based spam protection is working flawlessly.
